Transparency International

Transparency International (TI) was founded in 1993 as a global movement with one vision: a world in which government, business, civil society and the daily lives of people are free of corruption. With more than 100 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin we work to change the systems and networks that enable corruption to thrive. We are consistently ranked among the top policy think tanks internationally and are widely recognised for our contributions to anti-corruption research. This includes world leading contributions to the area of corruption measurement through our widely known Corruption Perceptions Index and the Global Corruption Barometer.

Role in the Project

Transparency International (TI) leads the project’s Work Package 5: Corruption, Integrity and Transparency. Through this Work Package we intend to measure the deficit of both legal (de jure) and real (de facto) transparency in the European Union and candidate countries. With the newly acquired data, we will explore the interaction between transparency, citizen participation and corruption to generate evidence that helps improve the effectiveness of anti-corruption efforts. Additionally, Transparency International will lead in the construction of the project’s Data Hub.
